Data Space Authority
Are you leading a consortium or group of organisations ready to launch or scale a cutting-edge data space?
The Data Space Authority (DSA) Membership is designed for you.
Whether you are building a new ecosystem or expanding an existing one, iSHARE provides the governance, open-source tooling, and operational support you need.Â
As a non-profit scheme owner, we do not compete with you, we simply provide a neutral trust anchor. Benefit from predictable costs, zero sign-up fees, immediate access to testing facilities, and a clear path to high-impact growth.
Step-by-step guide to setting up a data space
Define your ecosystem: Gather partners with shared data goals and establish your minimum ecosystem requirements using our data space template.
Set security standards: Define security measures for interactions between data consumers and service providers.
Establish legal contracts: Use the iSHARE Trust Framework to set up user licences, legal agreements, and digital contracts for each data interaction.
Onboard trusted participants: Use the Participant Registry to onboard entities, grant access authorisations, and ensure compliance with ecosystem rules.
Select a membership plan: Choose the plan that matches your data space maturity.
Integrate your service provider:
- Sign the Terms of Use and Accession Agreement.
- Deploy your connector and implement iSHARE API specifications.
- Set up your data service (e.g. using Linked Data standards) and test implementation via the Conformance Testing Tool (CTT).
Membership fees
From 1 January 2027, iSHARE operates on a single, fixed annual fee per Data Space Authority (DSA), replacing legacy tiered pricing. There are no sign-up fees.
Note: The optional component licence applies only to Authorities operating scheme components directly within their own federation.
Scheme Policy: Multi-issuer requirement
To ensure a healthy and secure ecosystem, every data space must run on at least two (preferably three or more) accredited issuers. For certified issuers, this policy is the market. We enforce this to guarantee:
- Continuity: An issuer that fails or exits must never leave a data space stranded.
- Choice: Healthy market competition, not forced designation, keeps onboarding priced fairly.
- Coverage: Large enterprise onboarding and SME long-tail needs require different types of issuers.
- Credibility: Relying on a single issuer creates a monopoly with a certificate. A trusted framework requires multiple options.
