DSSC
The Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) is a European initiative funded by the European Commission under the Digital Europe Programme. Its mission is to support the creation of self-sufficient, sovereign Common European Data Spaces (CEDS), building an interoperable, trustworthy, and data-sovereign environment aligned with EU values. Targeting public sector organisations and companies, DSSC brings together 12 consortium partners to provide direct support to data space initiatives across Europe.
The puzzle
Challenge and Context
Building sovereign data spaces requires shared standards and coordinated governance. Organizations face fragmented guidance and steep learning curves. Without a central reference, data spaces risk being slow, siloed, and misaligned with the European single market for data.
Solution
The DSSC addresses these challenges through collaborative engagement with Common European Data Spaces and other data space initiatives, translating their real-world needs into a comprehensive, research-based suite of assets that guide organisations at every stage of their data space journey.
How it works
The DSSC supports data space initiatives through a structured set of public assets: The Blueprint provides comprehensive implementation guidelines, while the Toolbox offers a catalogue of component implementations. The Data Spaces Radar maps global initiatives, supported by a Glossary for consistent terminology. Additional assets include Design Principles for modular, interoperable building blocks, a Starter Kit for resource onboarding, the Co-Creation Method to align business and technical stakeholders, and a Maturity Model to assess and advance data space growth.
Added Value Through the iSHARE Trust Framework
Currently a consortium partner in the second phase of the DSSC, iSHARE plays a key role in accelerating data space adoption across Europe. By contributing directly to the development of the Blueprint’s common building blocks and various support mechanisms, data space initiatives across Europe gain access to support from experts where they need it the most. Furthermore, iSHARE is contributing to enhancing the DSSC Toolbox to ensure all required components are presented cohesively, providing organisations with actionable, business-ready tools to build their governance and operational needs effectively.
