iSHARE brings Trust, Control and Interoperability to the Digital Government of the Future
In June 2025, the Dutch government launched the updated Nederlandse Digitaliseringsstrategie (NDS)—a bold call to action for all levels of government to act as one digital state. Developed by the Ministry of Interior and Kingdom Relations, with input from public organisations like the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG), Interprovincial Consultative Body (IPO), Union of Water Boards (UvW), and ministries including Defence, Finance, Economic Affairs, Infrastructure and Water Management, VRO and LVVN, the strategy prioritises federated collaboration, shared standards, and digital sovereignty.
The NDS outlines six national priorities:
- Cloud adoption
- Responsible data use
- AI implementation
- Citizen-and business-centric digital services
- Digital resilience and autonomy
- Digital skills and future-ready work environments
These pillars are not just policy, they are action points, and iSHARE is already delivering on them.
How iSHARE Accelerates the NDS in Practice
As a non-profit Trust Framework, iSHARE enables organisations to share data reliably and securely, without the need of new central platforms. Our decentralised model is fully aligned with the NDS principle of “centraal afspreken, federatief inrichten”: agree together, implement locally.
How is iSHARE aligning to these strategies?
Digital Sovereignty & Resilience: iSHARE puts control back into the hands of the data owner. No lock-in, no central storage. Just verified, auditable access and delegation— true digital autonomy in practice.
Interoperability & Standardisation: Through clear agreements, open standards, and real-world use cases, iSHARE removes the friction of fragmented systems. It supports the NDS’s drive to break down silos between government entities and beyond.
Citizen-First Thinking: Whether in logistics, energy, health, public services, and beyond, iSHARE helps ensure that data sharing serves people. Transparency, fairness, and trust are built-in—not afterthoughts.
AI & Data Readiness: iSHARE supports high-quality, portable, and verifiable data access—foundations required for safe and effective AI applications, as called for the NDS.
Cross-Ministry Alignment: iSHARE is already working with ministries including:
Helping operationalise NDS principles within concrete, scalable projects.
Looking Ahead: Building One Digital Netherlands
The Dutch Digitalisation Strategy rightly states:
“We cannot afford to act as separate organisations anymore”
The iSHARE Foundation fully embraces this statement. Our mission is to build a connected, fair, and trusted data society—not by creating more platforms, but by making trust and interoperability the default across systems.
As we move from planning to execution, iSHARE remains committed to collaborating with government, industry, and citizens to realise the ambitions of the NDS—securely, transparently, and for the benefit of all
