iSHARE Trust Framework Version 2.2 is Live!

News
Version 2.2 of the iSHARE Trust Framework is live — enabling seamless, secure, and scalable data sharing for digital ecosystems across industries.

Version 2.2 of the iSHARE Trust Framework marks a major milestone in enabling seamless, secure, and scalable digital collaboration. Whether you’re building a data space or driving innovation in logistics, energy, agriculture or beyond — iSHARE provides the foundation to grow your digital ecosystem with trust at its core.

What’s New in Version 2.2?

Greater Trust and Legal Clarity

Enhanced language and structure across the legal agreements improve clarity and usability for cross-border and cross-sector implementations. A major upgrade includes the legal validity of extended consent-based data usage licences.

Technical Interoperability

The framework supports RESTful APIs and extensible delegation models for straightforward integration with current and future platforms. The iSHARE Trust Framework is aligned with Gaia-X, IDSA, and the Eclipse Data Space Working Group (EDWG).

Built-in Trust Mechanisms

Universal authentication and authorisation protocols ensure participants can verify each other’s identities and share data with confidence.

Dual-Format Documentation

Machine- and human-readable assets allow both developers and legal teams to adopt and implement the framework with ease, supporting fully automated onboarding.

Built by the Community

This version was shaped by continuous collaboration with legal experts, software developers, domain experts, and ecosystem partners. It reflects our open governance model and commitment to a vendor-neutral, global standard.

“We designed iSHARE 2.2 to be the backbone of trusted data sharing on a global scale,” said Rajiv Rajani, Chief Technology Officer of the iSHARE Foundation.

What’s Next? The Road to Version 3.0

The next version will incorporate support for W3C Verifiable Credentials, increasing compatibility with digital wallets and global standards. Our aim: to push interoperability even further.
