iSHARE Foundation as part of WE BUILD Consortium in Second Round of EUDI Wallet Pilots

iSHARE Foundation is proud to be part of the WE BUILD Consortium, which has been selected by the European Commission to participate in the second round of Large-Scale Pilots for the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet). As a key contributor to trusted data-sharing ecosystems, iSHARE Foundation will collaborate with consortium partners to develop and test secure, interoperable digital identity solutions designed specifically for data sharing and onboarding within data ecosystems.
Driving Europe’s Digital Future
The WE BUILD Consortium (Wallet Ecosystem for Business and Payments Use Cases on Identification, Legal Representation, and Data Sharing) focuses on developing digital identity solutions for businesses and payment sectors. With nearly 200 partners, including Member States, public entities, and private sector organizations, the consortium is well- positioned to support the European Commission on promoting innovation, digitalization, and competitiveness.
What the Second Round Means for Participants
The second round will focus on testing and refining the EUDI Wallets in real-world settings. The goals for this phase include:
- Piloting 13 use cases in business and payment sectors, testing the wallet’s functionality and impact.
- Ensuring interoperability across EU Member States, enabling seamless cross-border transactions.
- Improving security and compliance, including meeting GDPR and other regulations.
- Preparing for wider deployment, ensuring the solutions can be scaled for use across Europe.
The European Union’s Digital Identity Solution
As digital services grow, secure and reliable digital identification is essential The EUDI Wallet will provide a digital counterpart to physical IDs, offering a trusted and private way to verify identity online. These wallets will be interoperable across the EU, ensuring smooth functionality in every Member State.
iSHARE Foundation Role in Strengthening the Consortium
The iSHARE Foundation has played a pivotal role in exploring how the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) can strengthen trust frameworks by integrating secure identification, authentication, and authorization processes within its Datastelsel Verduurzaming Utiliteit (DVU) data space.
As part of the WE BUILD Consortium, the iSHARE Framework for Data Rights will contribute by:
- Ensuring secure and efficient data sharing between businesses and governments.
- Establishing the foundation for scalable, interoperable digital identity solutions to streamline data space onboarding.
- Driving the adoption of digital transactions through secure, automated processes, leveraging legal entity wallets and an existing network of iSHARE credential issuers.
By integrating these elements, iSHARE Foundation aims to enhance trust, security, and efficiency in digital ecosystems.
Looking Ahead
The WE BUILD Consortium project will officially start in September 2025 and run for 24 months. iSHARE Foundation will collaborate closely with partners to develop and test a scalable digital identity solution.
