iSHARE Foundation and UvA: Enhancing Data-Sharing Solutions Together

Partnerships
The collaboration aims to refine architectures that support trusted data exchanges.

iSHARE Foundation’s collaboration with the University of Amsterdam (UvA) represents a significant stride in data exchange systems. It relies on the Foundation’s practical experience with real-life use cases and the University’s rich research capabilities in setting essential rules for identity verification, access control, and authorisations within secure data exchanges. Together, iSHARE and UvA aim to test and refine data-sharing architectures that support trusted exchanges and address the intricate design complexities of today’s interconnected digital landscapes.

The collaboration also serves as a growth opportunity for the iSHARE Foundation, allowing it to leverage academic research to identify and address areas for improvement, ultimately enhancing the adaptability and resilience of the iSHARE Trust Framework.

The Proposed University Thesis Projects

At UvA’s recent Thesis Fair, the iSHARE Foundation presented two university thesis projects, sparking engagement with students around project objectives, expectations, and outcomes. These projects focus on:

  1. Optimisation of Delegation Chains
  2. Developing an Assessment Model for Data Ecosystems

The projects will enable organizations to gauge how well different ecosystems align with trusted data-sharing practices and reflect a growing need for scalable solutions in data governance and ecosystem alignment.

Structured Learning and Research Timeline

The thesis projects follow a two-part timeline: a three-month design phase (part-time), followed by a three-month full-time research phase from April to June. Throughout this period, students gain first-hand experience tackling real-world challenges by formulating research questions, designing and executing research plans, and applying their university knowledge in practical settings. This immersive experience supports students in mastering scientific research practices while contributing to the iSHARE Foundation’s real-world objectives.

Strengthening the iSHARE Trust Framework with Research-Driven Innovation

Collaborating with the University of Amsterdam brings invaluable academic expertise to the iSHARE Foundation, from fortifying our trust components to advancing research-based improvements. Research findings from these thesis projects may inform us about new specifications or adaptations, enabling organisations to manage complex delegation chains and assess data ecosystems more effectively. Additionally, by contributing to a growing body of knowledge on data-sharing practices, we reinforce iSHARE Foundation’s role as a trusted leader in secure and efficient data exchanges.

The partnership between the iSHARE Foundation and UvA offers a unique opportunity to drive advancements in data sovereignty and strengthen trusted digital ecosystems. It highlights a shared commitment to shaping the future of secure data-sharing, combining academic research with practical applications to create scalable, effective solutions for the digital age.
