iSHARE Foundation becomes member of Dutch AI Coalition
The iSHARE Foundation has joined the Dutch AI Coalition (NL AIC). This public-private partnership brings together government bodies, businesses, educational and research institutions and societal organisations in order to speed up artificial intelligence (AI) developments and to interlink Dutch AI initiatives.
The Netherlands is keen to play a leading role in the advancement of both AI-related knowledge and usage, and the NL AIC serves as a catalyst for AI applications. Together with its participants and partners, the NL AIC has set itself the aim of realising high-impact AI innovations in at least ten sectors of the economy and society over the next three years.
The iSHARE Foundation is keen to help the NL AIC achieve its objectives. “iSHARE creates the conditions for data sharing in a secure and controlled manner – and that’s an important prerequisite for further AI-related developments,” comments Gerard van der Hoeven, director of the iSHARE Foundation, when asked about the foundation’s reasons for joining the NL AIC. “We’re keen to contribute to strengthening the Netherlands’ AI proposition.”
Earlier this month, it was announced that the NL AIC’s AiNed artificial intelligence investment programme has been chosen to receive €276 million from the Dutch government’s National Growth Fund, which supports innovation proposals that will drive long-term economic growth in the Netherlands.
